How do i put an image or color behind the store??

hey guys.. it just looks plain back there. i'd like to add a color or gradient behind the main centered store. any idea how?

Try modifying the stylesheet.css file in whichever template you're using for your store (eg: catalog/templates/aabox/stylesheet.css).
You'll be able to change the overall background colour/image in the style for 'BODY'. However, you'll need to be careful that your changes work well with the other page elements which will overlay it - so test it thoroughly. You can go further and customize the whole look of your site by making further changes to the other styles (and there are lots of them), but again you'll need to be careful that you don't inadvertently change something you shouldn't have. So make a copy of the original file which you can reinstate if you have to.
