Anyone know about zoomable images

I really like the idea of dynamic zoomable high-res images.

But that would get VERY costly. Does anyone know how to do something similar with a minimum in cost? Its such a cool feature. I would love to be able to let people zoom in on exactly what they want.

Any ideas would be very cool.
