Major Tax Problem, I have read a dozen post with no luck...

I think you don't have the tax rate insdie of the US, but rather equal to the US if you know what I mean. I used to have that problem with a base osCommerce install and had to place Nevada (for me) inside of the US. I don't think I phrased it that well, it is hard to explain. I'm sure msasek will fix it for you.

Fixed.

He was just mis-configured in his Zones and in his tax zones. He had Pennsylvania set up, but was missing the United States country and zone definition.

Oh, I used to have that same exact problem too. I've had many problems getting taxes to work in the past.

I'm having the same problem. These are my settings :

In the Countries, I have the United States as the only code.
In the "Zones", I have all the United States states and that's all.
In the Tax Zones, I have "Virginia" (which I have tried "VA" as well)
In the Tax Classes, I have "Taxable Goods"
In the Tax rates, I have Tax Class- Taxable Goods, Zone - Virginia, Tax Rate - 5%.

What am I missing here?

Finally got this to work properly. There is a bug or something in the way it initially works. Here's what I found-

Using the directions of setting up the Zone Name, then entering the "geographical zone" as the United States, then selecting the newly created zone from the drop down box is where the problem occurs.

I see the zone "United States" and I select that, and then the "Zones" box that's under that, where I SHOULD be selecting my state, has nothing to chose from. There are no states there.

I finally accepted it without a state, went back to it using "edit" and all the states showed up, I picked my state and saved it and it all works fine now.

Hi, I do not have the problem you describe. I do not have to go back and edit, all states are visible on the initial visit to that page.

Well I guess I'm like everyone else here! I've checked all the post related to this and it's not helping either. I've also checked the setup guide and it's not available for Tax info.

Please someone help with this...

Can you provide specifics on the "problem " your having Cobra ?

Just like the orginal poster, when ever someone purchase and checks out they are getting charged State Tax (Ky), no matter what state they are in.
