Welcom Guest! doesn't show

I just installed MS2-Max 1.7. By default the "Welcome Guest!..." message doesn't show on the main page and I'd like it to. I've found various references to it in OscDox and on the forum, but it appears things have changed a bit with the recent version. The text and function appear to be defined correctly, but which file in 1.7 actually causes the message to be displayed? And what would I need to add to the file? (assuming the information simply isn't commented out)

Also, the file is locateded in /content of the template you are using.
