What exactly does the installer do?

I ask because what I would like to do it to customize MAX to the way I like it, and use that version to install all my stores so I don't have to modify the same things over and over.

What's the best way to do this? Can I make the changes to the actual files that come with the downloaded zip file? Or if I do that, does something happen during the install that would wipe out certain things I have changed?

Am I making sense in asking this?

I'm illiterate when it comes to all of this, so go easy on me and speak slowly

The installer setup both of your configure.php files and if allowed to import a default database. That is all.

All other files may be changed to suit your needs. If you ADD contributions that have database entries then you have to add that into the default database (or set it all up in a test site then do a MySQL dump of it then copy that to the default database name (ie oscommerce.sql or ms2-max.sql)

Good Luck

Cool- thanks! I just wanted to make a few minor changes so I don't have to start from scratch every time. I'm not trying to offer my own version or anything!
