account page - state drop down

I'm sure this issue is addressed somewhere, but I tried to find the answer to no avail.

Problem is: I'd like for the state field to be a drop-down list of US states when users are creating accounts and specifying addresses. The default MS2-MAX installation has a text field where the user must type the entire state name. Most people type only the 2-letter code so the state defaults to Alabama on the next pages.

I noticed that if you edit your accountm it utilizes the drop-down. I could copy and paste the code from one to another, but I'd like to know if there is an easier or better way.

It's sets a default country so that the state drop down will pop up automatically

great! thanks very much. I found a different way to do it, but this way is actually clearer and doesn't circumvent the way the state field is supposed to be used. I'm going to use your suggestion.
