Default I want to move create_account.php to another folder

Hi all, as usuall I have a strange request for help. This time regarding moving create_account.php to new folder. Why?? Because I want to password protect it and the htaccess file does not allow me to protect individual file but only directory....

Has anyone done this before?, what do you think the implications of moving the file would be. Do I need to move create_account_success.php as well?

What are your thoughts about this matter...

    Cheers

If you do that then NO one will be able to apply for an account on your site and people will NOT be able to buy from you......

May be you want to APPROVE the account before allowing to buy? Or did you want to MANUALLY enter an account?

HI, I don't want people to apply for accounts. I want to manually enter an account (online) and I don't want 'anybody', 'joe somebody' to be able to open an account. Only people with the right password can open an account. -strange yea I know, but so is the business...

So anyidea how I can password protect create_account.php, one way of doing it would be to put in a separate folder and let the hosting package assign a htaccess file for it. Or will this implicate the code of oscommerce to much?

    what to do?

    Cheers for your consulting...

    Default "Dealer only" site...

    Why re-invent...

What you really need is [urlhttp://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,999]Customer Account + login + add new user via admi[/url]

This contribution basically this moves oscommerce towards being a dealer only site. The site can only be access via logging in. Only the administrator can add new dealers. existing dealers can change details etc & change their password. Any attempt to get into the catalog of the site will redirect them to the base url of the site.

Note: This is for an older version of OSC (last update: March 2003) but should not be too hard to update for MS2 or MS2-MAX.

    Good luck!
