Which templates are compatable?

Hi Guys

Apologies if I've posted in the wrong section. I am just in the process of installing OSCMAX on a server and looking around at the available templates.

I have good html, CSS and ASP skills but no PHP. You are probably best regarding me as a noob with regard to setting up an ecommerce site

My question is: Clearly I can install one of the approved OSCMax approved templates, but what would be the potential problems of installing an OSCommerce v2.2 compatible template?

Also what skills would you expect me to have as a minimum to get things going?

If you have decent HTML and CSS skills you should be fine creating your own template.

Have a look at Compromise (included in the install) which is an HTML based template ... all the design work is done in HTML and the PHP is stored elsewhere.

OsCommerce 2.2 templates are per page as it does not have the Template System that osCmax does - you will find osCmax alot easier!

Have a read through the wiki ... but I would start with the compromise template and have a play to get it how you want it ... you will be amazed how much can be tailored through the main_page.html and stylesheet.css ...
