Tax and Shipping problems after going live

I've been at this for 2 days now and about ready to pull my hair out!!

I have 3 countries Canada, USA and Australia. I deleted the rest since these are the only countries my store deals with.
I set up seperate tax zones for all three countries and included all zones.
I set up another tax zone for Canada-SK only.

I can get table rate or flat rate (or both) shipping to show up for Australia but no shipping options will work with Canadian or US customers??
And the 7% tax is not showing during checkout of a SK customer??

now I've got 3 seperate shipping mods, one for each country and it's working?? I don't understand why or how. I didn't do anything!??

I'm going to go insane here!
I registered a new user, did a test order, everything was fine. But when that same user makes another order, no shipping and no tax! WTF!?

Kristine, take a deep breath and slowly back away...


I sure it is something simple. First, check your products: do they have a weight? If it is 0, it will not charge shipping.

Next, check your products to see if they are taxable. They should be set to taxable goods.

If both are true, time to dig a little deeper.

Check your payment and shipping mods, and make sure they are not attached to any zone. Otherwise, they will only work for that specific zone.

If you get through all that, and still no luck, come back here for more help!

LOL ya I took a break for a bit!
I've checked everything. I purposely set each country to it's own shipping mod. The thing is it works with the first order you make after setting up an account. Then when you log back in with the same user name, add items to cart and click checkout, it just skips right over the shipping page, right on to the payment page. And the one zone I have set to collect tax on, only collects tax on the first order.?? I don't get it?

oh, and I'm not using any shipping mods that deal with weight, just price

I went in and added weight to all the products. I managed to make an order and get charged shipping, not sure that has anything to do with it, cause it just works when it wants!

Now I see that paypal is not picking up the tax from the order, just the subtotal and the shipping??

Kristine, weight applies to ALL shipping mods. If no weight is set, no shipping will be charged, regardless of whether the mod uses weight to calcualte shipping or not. 0 weight is reserved for virtual products like gift vouchers and downloads only.

ok, I sorta guessed that It's just that it did work with no weight, but not every time.
Now what about this tax-paypal issue? Why would that not be carried over to the paypal side of the order along with the subtotal and the shipping?
In the old paypal mod there was settings for including shipping and tax, but not with this new one?
