Default Upgrading a standard Oscommerce to a osc_ms2_max_1_5_5-1

Hi.

I am about to start a new project, however the client has already a standard out of the box installation. Having worked with the MAX version, without a doubt its one of the better, i would like to continue doing so.

So my question:
1: What is the best procedure of upgrading a standard Osc to Max?
2: Any thing special I need to consider.

Maby there is a thread somewhere.....
Best regads

Mike

It is not a simple process. Install MAX in a new dir and manually update the old databse using mysqldiff or a tool like it to match the MAX data structure, then you need to import the MAX config data into the updated database, or export the updated old DB data to the new MAX DB. There are pro's and cons to each, but net result is the same. A working max DB.

Once you have finished updating the DB, you can link max to the newly updated DB by manually editing the configure.php files database definitions.

Then, test to be sure it is actually working with your updated db. Run through all catalog and admin functions. Do not skip this step. Make sure it is working BEFORE going any farther

Then, you can begin customizing max to match the look of the old site.

When everything is golden, move the old store to a backup dir, and move the new store into the dir where the old store used to be...

That is about it. Of course, you actually have to know how to do all the stuff I just said.
