I have a music site and many of my vendors are the artists themselves. They would like to be able to have a look at their own product details, stock levels etc. Is there a way I can allow them restricted access to specific items for them to view like stock levels etc? I can't see any sort of contrib to do this

Any suggestions?

Your right in the fact that there is no contribution to allow to admin on a per item/catagory. There is a few ways to get around this - however mostly it means hacking or making your own program or using a "report" tool like Crystal Reports - which I have used with MySQL and works great (however it is not open source and it is not free). I have not looked into the Afilliates module which might offer something - worth a look.

All I need to do is remove the % commission in the affiliate summary.php screen and it will work but I need to change the banner - how to?
