Default MS2-MAX vs. Plain Jane OS Commerce

Hi,

I've just spent several hours installing and tweaking MS2. I really like it so far, and I'd like to continue with it, but...I'm going to be using Asian languages on my site. So I added the language contributions from the OS COmmerce site and unfortunately there seem to be some compatibility issues.

I fixed several of them and then got to thinking that maybe I would be better off working with the plain old OS Commerce version. Truth is that I don't even have the ability to fix a lot of the problems.

I'd really appreciate any input or ideas concerning this issue (e.g. simple workarounds, etc.)

Thanks.

MAX is compatable with any OSC MS1/MS2 language pack out there...HOWEVER there are SEVERAL added lines/file and fuction in MAX that does not exist.

MOST contributions (and MAX has over 20 of them) have only one or up to 3 languages installed (mosltly have atlease one of the default languages in OSC - like English, German, Spanish). If you use/install a languange that is NOT been done for MAX then more than likely there is MANY files or added lines that need to be added. If you can translaste from one of the defaults (like English to Simplified Chinese) then using a compare tool (like Beyond Compare) or even using side by side text editors (that supports your languages your using). Compare the LANGUAGE packs and look for missing files (that have to be copied over and the "text" display translated) - for both TEXT files and GRAPHICS files. Compare EXISITNG files and look for lines that exist in the default language that does not exist in your new language - copy it over and translate as needed.

Remember in PHP to escape out any ' like "Mike's Website" Must be entered as "Mike\'s Website"

Once you get into it - it is NOT that hard.

Once you have done all that you can ZIP that new language up and submit it in a post here. We can then offer it to OTHER user that may need this.

Good Luck
