Default Newbie graphics question

I created some graphic files and replaced those in the catalog/images dir, retaining the original file names (OSCMAX_top.jpg, etc.). FTP'd them to my server and deleted the default graphic files. Yet, the old graphics still appear when I open the site in a browser, despite clearing the cache and deleting temp files. Did I miss something? Thanks.

Do you use a http proxy? If so, depending on it's configuration, it is possible that the proxy will give you the old images for some time.

No I'm not using a proxy.

The site is finally displaying the new graphics, the day after I made the revisions. Maybe it's a server issue...I'll check with my hosting company.
