Default URL session ID's with newest MAX installation

I just installed and patched up the latest version of MAX.

How do you get rid of the session ID's in the URL's? I set the "search engine safe" to true in admin, no effect.

I've read that it is a problem with the BTS mod, do I need to install a spider killer now as well?

Aodhan, it has nothing to do with the BTS. To suppress SID's you need to turn Force Cookies on in the Sessions section of the admin.

You cannot use Shared SSL with force cookies on though...

That's ok, I don't use SSL at all right now, nor for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the info, I'll make the changes!

Don't forget if you use force cookies - AOL user will have problems on your site.

    Hi Guys!....
From this discussion, I cant but help ask this.....Would not being able to suppress SIDS and not being able to force cookie use affect Google ranking?
I am using shared SLL without problems but would mind to get my own SSL if that will help my SE ranking.

    Thanks
    Christy

    thanks

Christy, I don't think it makes a difference. MAX suppresses sids for spiders anyway, so it should not make a difference.

I dont have problems with the sids 99% of the time, i have the ms2-MAX 1.5 version. I just had to work with the config file to get it to work right. The only time I see sids is going to checkout and login on the secure server which is on a different server. Sometimes there is a sid on the first page links, after the first click they are gone.

So far no problems with IE and also AOL as long as cookies are enabled on browser, if not they get the sids.

I haven't sold any products in that category yet.

The best sellers should show when there have been sales in a category.
