Default How to limit 'new products'

I have a problem with the 'new products' feature of OSC.

It appears that every single item is classified as 'new', even though some are over 2 months old!
Above the highlights on the main page reads 'new products for e.g. December' which will change to 'January, February' etc. when the time comes, yet the products listed remain the same!

Is there any way to limit the maximum age of 'new' products?
I don't want EVERY single one of my items to be new. Kinda defeats the object of the feature, doesn't it?

    Many thanks!
