| I am trying to get my own version of OSC up and running and all I've done so far is install it on my home machine. I am a little overwhelmed with all the contrbuted mods available and leary about installing all of them to get what I want. Does this MS2-MAX build on OSC M2.2? Are the contributor the same ones for OSC, for such mods as x-sell, BTS? When a new OSC comes out, with there be a new MAX? Do I install over OSC or uninstall OSC and install MAX? Can I use OSC mods for MAX? |

| MS2-MAX is osCommerce MS2 version with some minor bug fixes and MANY of the most popular and harder to install contributions. The LARGEST change is BTS - Basic Template System. Many of these mods was orgainally made by other - and modifed by yet other then we have combined them (an sorted out conflicting code that some mod changes) and provide that to anyone who want it. Does this MS2-MAX build on OSC M2.2? Depend on your view point - I would say yes - in reality-nearlly everything is available from there (OSC) site. Are the contributor the same ones for OSC, for such mods as x-sell, BTS? Yes -there the same MODS - just made to work together. When a new OSC comes out, with there be a new MAX? We hope so. It may not be övernight - as the NEXT version MS3 - will break MOST mods that will have to be re-written/tested/debugged. Then a NEW MAX will have to be built - from scratch. Do I install over OSC or uninstall OSC and install MAX? I would suggest a NEW installation - it is MUCH easier. There is code in BOTH osc and Max that can upgrade ONE DB to another. Can I use OSC mods for MAX? Yes - you can try. BACKUP and/or use a localhost TEST site. Much code has been modified by MANY differnet contributions - it may or may not be easy. Some mod code conflict with other mods and was moved/changed/modified. As soon as I have a bit more time there is a MS2-MAX 1.8 coming out - get your request for MOD addition ASAP! Good Luck |
