The fields I wish to map into are: Products Desciption Products Quantity Products price (Net) Products price (Gross) Products manufacturer Products Model I also want tax class field to have a default setting of VAT, and to be able to import into different categories. | Export the easypopulate database CSV file from the admin, and open it in excel. Then add your product data to the correct fields. The field names are self explanatory.

| I tried the "Download EP and Froogle Files" functions in the admin but the files are garbage and unworkable in Excel. Is there another way to export, add products, and re-import? |

| chrismole, you need to open them as a CSV file in excel. They are not garbage and unworkable. They are perfectly formatted documents if you open them as a CSV file in excel...

| The CSV files are created by Easypopulate. You have to first get it up and running (that's what I'm trying to do.) Once you are able to run easypopulate.php on a browser, you should get some form fields and some links at the bottom that look like the text below. All of those links will create the sample tab delimite files. -------------------------- Download EP and Froogle Files Download Complete tab-delimited .txt file to edit Download Model/Price/Qty tab-delimited .txt file to edit Download Model/Category tab-delimited .txt file to edit Download Froogle tab-delimited .txt file Create EP and Froogle Files in Temp Dir (/temp/) Create Complete tab-delimited .txt file in temp dir Create Model/Price/Qty tab-delimited .txt file in temp dir Create Model/Category tab-delimited .txt file in temp dir Create Froogle tab-delimited .txt file in temp dir Create Model/Attributes tab-delimited .txt file in temp dir |

| Stop, Stop, Stop... You are all going about it the hard way (IMHO). I use the following technique which works for any and every version of OSC. For each of the files you want to populate (I typically do Products, Product_Desc, Product_Categories, Categories and Category Descr (may also want featured and specials etc)) and using phpmyadmin (or similar) Export the test data to Excel with column headings. On the resulting screen copy and paste this into an Excel worksheet (the data will all go into column A). Highlight column A and choose Data/Text to Columns On the resulting dialog select semicolons (which should then separate your data correctly) and press Finish. Replace (if it is test data) the columns with the data you want to put in. Make sure that each column of data all lines up at the bottom (Note you can click and drag data down to save time, if you don't understand this technique you shoudl ask a friend with Excel knowledge, read some tutorials, attend a course or do a lot of typing instead). Now save as .csv To load into your shop Import the csv using phpmyadmin. Note Excel output csv with commas (,) and phpmyadmin outputs csv with semicolons ( Goodluck. |

| Doug -- Just verifying: You have to export the different tables separately -- meaning I should export 1) Products, 2) Product_Desc, 3) Product_Categories, 4) Categories and 5) Category Descr as separate CSV files. I then bring these separate CSVs into Excel and slap them into one giagantic spreadsheet. (Or would you keep them all separate?) Then, I add new products to this gigantic spreadsheet. (Or each separate spreadsheet, which might be kind of complicated, since I'd be working between different spreadsheets.) And finally, I import them back into the database using phpMyAdmin -- importing relevant data into the relevant tables(Products, Product_Desc, Product_Categories, Categories and Category Descr), right? Just checking that I'm understanding correctly. Thanks, Greg |
