Shipping Estimator

A new project_project entry has been added:

Shipping Estimator

Ported to osCMax from the MVS shipping Estimator. This mod adds a button any time a customer adds an
item to their shopping cart that will spawn a JavaScript pop-up to
provide a shipping estimate. Our store received so many shipping
questions we felt this was required and we also put a box on the front
page of our store in an infobox. When a customer clicks on this before
adding an item to the cart, it simply says you don't have any items in
your cart. <br><br>This module is
streamlined to only require the country and postal code. <br><br> NOTE: This estimator will work with any osCMax installation, not just MVS.

I've found a few 'quirks' when using Individual Shipping, so not able to use on my current live client site.

Your own mileage may vary.

Addon has been added and tested on my dev site, after I create some buttons I'll consider going live with it.

Dual Rate is a bit confusing:

FREE SHIPPING! Free Shipping Only $0.00
Zone Rates Shipping to US : 8.65 lb(s) $20.00

It's kinda why I gave up on it - it should only show the Freeshipper (the 'if' statement seemed inoperative). There appears to be a bug in catalog/includes/classes/shipping.php

Seems fine if you don't use Freeshipper and/or Individual Shipping.

I don't even use the free shipping module , even though the module was disabled, it was still set to "1" making it show up in the estimator. Free shipping is done via a coupon code in my store.
