USPS recently changed their server so that it would not accept lower case letters. This resulted in your shipping method to default to Express upon checkout.
I updated the file usps.php and that fixed my problem. The changes were posted in the forums (http://forums.oscommerce.com/index.php?showtopic=251683). You can upload the included file to replace the old one or follow the manual instructions. Always back up!
