Default Canadian using OSC

Hi, I am fairly new to OSC, we have been working with it for about 4 months, and the site is set to launch next week. In going back through my notes I found OSCMax...... why didn't I bookmark it six months ago? Who knew?? It looks like things could have been way easier for us! I'm looking forward to finding out more. I hope also to find solutions to problems that seem to be unique to Canadian shop owners using osc.

I'm in British Columbia, on Salt Spring Island. I am an artist with a physical gallery/shop and the new osc site carries my work and the work of other artists.

What is unique about Canada? I am Canadian. OSC and osCMax is used all over the world. Including that smallish country just south of Canada....

Good Luck on the site - drop us a note if you looking for a bit of....inspiration.

Hi. What is unique? Lots! Oh, you meant about using osc for a Canadian site? Well, trying to find useable contribs that address needing to have the GST and PST calculate and show separately so that the sales data can be exported to QuickBooks and the taxes go into their separate accounts. I have a developer helping me, so she looks after all the details, but this one thing has been a huge struggle. If you know of a contribution or coding that takes care of this, it would be very much appreciated! Thank you,

No contributes needed for PST, GST and HST.

It not that hard to setup.

Thank you for the demo link. I did notice something in the demo, though (set up as being located in Ontario). Unless the business is located in or has a branch office in one of the HST zones, one does not charge HST, according to CCRA. Just GST.

Quite early on we installed a tax contrib from the osc side, which may have contribb'ed to some bugginess.

I really like the OSCMax admin area, and some of the functions offered and as I said before, I wish I'd used oscmax instead of osc. We still are having problems with some things not working properly. I think now that this is a better place to find the answers.

The HST was done just for the sake of it (to prove it would work). I had worked at a company who has physical location in 5 provinces but not in the HST area (and at other companies too)- but due to volume SOLD in to these locations - THEY still had to charge HST for items shipped. (All are commercial clients). At one time I had Quebec QST/GST done too - QST is charged ON TOP of GST.
