    Hello Everyone!
I have been selling on Ebay and have finally decided to make a real business, outside of Ebay. Since I know HTML quite well and am pretty handy making graphics, I thought this would be a cinch! WHO KNEW!!

Currently, I am stuck on which shopping cart to choose. I read the blog My Wife Quit Her Job.... and he suggested OSCmax, so here I am. I'm having trouble locating a demo link to see and try out the front and back end.

Also, I would like an honest opinion... How difficult is this to use for someone just starting out and only knowing HTML and not any of the other languages such as php and others?

    Hi there,

    Welcome to osCMax!

In answer to your question ... it depends!

Mainly, on how much customisation you want to do. osCMax works straight out of the box ... you can be up and running in about 10 minutes ...

If you want to specific things that are not available in a default install you may need a bit of coding experience (however, since our code base is very close to osCommerce there are lots of easy step by step instructions for this). We are actively developing the platform and the software does already include quite a lot features already - have a look at the wiki to see what is already in ...

As for a demo ... I have always found that the best way to test something is to try it out for yourself ... If you follow these easy instructions you can have a working version on your local pc in about 5 minutes ... and the best thing is that you don't have to go to the expense of paying for server space until you are ready ....

Most of the work to make your store look good is in the templating - ie. css - so if you can do this well then you probably won't need to touch the code at all.

Most importantly, we have a small(ish) but active forum which means that your questions will get answered ... but just make sure you have had a good search through before posting as most things have been covered already!

Good luck with your store which ever package you choose.

    Regards,
    pgmarshall

Thanks pgmarshall! We could NOT find the demo, so my IT guy installed it on my server for me to play with. So far so good but so much info! I'm going to keep playing though and I'm sure it will get easier.
