Default Migrating site and setting up POS

Hi All

I am looking at migrating an existing oscommerce site (with QTpro) to oscMax and then integrating this with Ollacart to provide point of sale functionality.

This may be of interest to a few people.

Hi there,

Welcome to osCMax!

I was just having a look at Ollacart ... does it just simply allow you to create a customer order from your store?

If that is all it does, then you could easily process these through the Order Editor or Phone Order (v2.1 only) functionality already in osCMax ... maybe I missed something ... does it have a POS terminal with PIN functionality?

Regards,

Thanks for that.

The Order Editor looks like it would work fine with a bit of modification e.g. just enter a default customer at the back end (for in store sales), integrate a field for a barcode scanner. Cash drawer can be opened if required with a 'beep' sent on completion and receipt printed from browser. We don't require PIN integration.

Biggest issue is failure of Easy Populate to support quantities of specific attributes e.g. 12 blue cardigans. This inventory function is very important - have done a lot of searches and can't find any easy solutions.

Any suggestions on this latter point would be gratefully accepted.

Product attributes should work, as 'Max uses 2.76g:
osCommerce: Easy Populate & Products Attributes

It allows the assignment of attributes, but from my testing it doesn't seem to allow management of the actual quantities of product with each specific attribute. i.e. it will update the products_quantity field in the products table but not the products_stock_quantity field in products_stock.

This is a problem if you are managing inventory for a clothing store.

I was thinking of extending osCommerce Community Add-Ons product inventory editor to allow updating of quantities of product with specific attributes.

A bit messy - it means managing stock levels separately from Easy Populate when dealing with products with attributes - but can't see much alternative.

Any suggestions welcome.

this has been an ongoing frustration point with attributes in OSC... some of us have left attributes completely going to "family products" as an alternative (where every item has a SKU and is a product in it's own right, then tied together as a family). This issue is being discussed by developers in the 2.1 osCMax team.
