Default Newbie question. Can this be used for a consignment store or auction site?

I am very much a green horn and exploring the notion of opening an online store and this is one I heard good things about. I'm wondering ...

Does this software have the capability to follow a consignment store model?

Can it be used as an auction site in some capacity?

Even though I will probably go with OSCMAX I was wondering if there are some good open source based solutions for consignment shops and auction sites?

I bet there is a better place for this question but this is also my introduction. Newbie question. Can this be used for a consignment store or auction site?

The auction model - would you be using ebay? There are connectors such as this

The consignment store - is there where people sell to each other and you are simply the facilitator? If so there is a custom product builder but I suspect you may find this slightly restrictive ... are you looking to allow all and sundry to list or just a small group.

If it was a small group then you can allow them access to the catalog section through user group levels. If it was everyone then it may be more complex.

Regards,

Thanks! The thing is, I don't know what kind of response I would have but I should hope for a big one or what's the point, so I think the all and sundry way is how I should go, and so I will check out the "... Builder" link you posted. Thanks a lot.
