Question New here with some basic questions about OSCMax

    Hi all,

I already have a domain that is doing well in the SERPs, but the problem is that I made it a long time ago and has been designed in plain old ugly html so Ive decided to go with OSCmax since someone on another forum told me to use OSCMax and not OScommerce.

K so what im askind is that I have some templates already for OScommerce. Will these templates work on OSCMax?

also should i go with OSCMax 2.0 RC4 or OSCommerce 2.2, whats the difference and which one should i use..

    Thanks

    Use OSCMax 2.0 RC4

No, osCommerce templates are not actually templates. They are an entire store that has been hacked to look a certain way.

You will need to adapt the osCommerce template to the osCMax BTS template format. Not that difficult if you have decent html design skills.

You could buy a BTS template here - see links on the main page here.

Cause OSC does not separate HTML code from PHP code - to modify the look and feal - they modify files ALL OVER the place is dozen if not several dozen files

We use the same engine as OSCommerce (but with a whole lot more) - but with the BTS - basic template system - you can use even Dreamwaver to create the look and feel you want (nearly impossible to get any kind of decent way with osCommerce to do the same) .

If you "got" an osCommerce template - it is not the graphics that is an issues. You just have to recreate the LAYOUT. If properly done - most changes would be just CSS changes anyway. Like Michael said - if you have decent html (or willing to learn using free online tutorials) skills - not that difficult.
