Thumbs up Hi Everyone! Stoped By to check it all out...

Well thought I'd say Hi. I've been working with osCommerce 2.2 ms2 several years and now have only been using osCommerce 2.2rc2a for about a year. I'm pretty comfortable working with osC and as with anyone your always going to find bugs that need working out when you continue to addon more & more contributions but like I say, it's not all bad...for me anyways.
I've always heard and read some about osMax but have never really considered messing with it as, call me stupid but I actually thought that it was a Cart you had to buy! Go Figure...well now I know better!
I guess my main question here is going to be, if anyone will answer it for me is if osCMax scripts are fully compatible with osCommerce? Or are some of them compatible and others not or is it you either use osCMax or you use osCommerce if you want to set-up an online shop?
Any input would be appreciated here. I am in the process of re-doing both of my websites after 5 years with a face-lift and have just finished uploading the osCommerce Shop to bothe sites,
www.ftadirectusa.com & www.computersdirectusa.com and would like to know somthing before I get too far into setting them up as I might consider trying osCMax on at least one of them.
I looked around the site, I didn't see any rule that said I couldn't post my website links, I hope it is OK.
By the way, Nice set-up on the forums....

    Thanks,

    KnightCoder

First, welcome to the osCMax community! I am glad you decided to check out our little corner of the internet.

Yes you are free to post your osCommerce or osCMax websites on the Introduce Yourself board. You can also put them in your signature.

To clarify a bit, osCMax IS osCommerce, but with about 100 mods pre-installed. We have taken great pains to keep the codebase as true to standard osCommerce as possible.

The whole point of osCMax is saving time for site development while maintaining compatibility with the the vast majority of the 4000+ mods that are already made for osCommerce, so you are not limiting yourself by using osCMax.

Oh, and osCMax has always been and always will be 100% free to use, just like osCommerce. Give the new RC4 release (just released this morning!) a try.

Thanks For the Heads Up on the RC4 Release Michael, Now would be the time for me to install it before I go any farther. Should I just be able to Copy osCMax over Top of what I have , or would you recommend that I totally remove the rc2a and do a fresh Install ?

    Thank In Advance,

Totally remove it and do a fresh install to avoid mixing file sets. There are a lot of files with identical names but completely different code.

I would disagree - just a bit with Micheal

I would not overwrite an existing "LIVE" site - but install beside your existing store in a new directory and with a new database. That way once the site is up and ready - the switch is the mater of updating the URL in your re-director/default web link....

If you don't have an existing "LIVE" site - like Micheal said - UNINSTALL/DELETE/REMOVE everything including the database (the OSCMAX install with remove all traces of your old DB anyway) and start with RC4 fresh.
