Default MySQL has a red minus on install

I am installing OSCMax on a unix server and am getting a red mark when I try to install. The server has several different PHP versions, I get this when I have PHP set to PHP 7.2, I tried to set it back to PHP 5.6 which works for install but now I cannot chmode the configure.php files. What version of MySQL is needed to run PHP 7.2? If I stick with PHP 5.6 how can I chmode the files?

    I'd say forget PHP 7.
The command is chmod, which suggests a lack of knowledge on your part. Acceptable directory/File permissions are likely down to the PHP modules that you are using/missing, such as suphp/suexec. This is only speculation, as I don't currently have a PHP 5.4 site, never mind 5.6.
Not having the 'correct' permissions on the configure files shouldn't prevent the site from working but is less secure (normally) and will produce warnings in admin.

After working with my server tech to get OSCMax running, he advised me that any script that cannot run on PHP 7.2 is a bad choice since PHP 5.6 (which we are using) is approaching end of life at the end of Dec, 2018. He advised me to choose a more up-to-date shopping cart to avoid issues. We tried running it on PHP 7.2 but it renders a blank page. Will OSCMax be updated to run on PHP 7.2 or is it approaching end of life also?

My host - Pair.com - allows the use of 5.6:

If you would like to continue running PHP 5.6 after the PHP upgrade, you may do so by running PHP as a CGI. You can find instructions on how to run PHP as a CGI here: How to Run PHP as CGI | pair Networks KnowledgeBase

Which is what I am doing until either osCmax gets updated or I find another shopping cart that is as flexible as osCmax.

Let me retract my previous statement with regards to PHP versions.
Have a look at the Developers section of the main osCmax site - Michael_S has previously (last year) added a lot of changes to the development branch to cater for PHP 7, for example.

Not time to upgrade yet though is it? Nice to know Michael was working on it, wish he had more free time!
