WOW niallb - that was so nice of you. I checked with the client and they told me that the check out could be in English - I just need to create description pages for all 3 languages. I would think that I could also create duplicate pages for the other stuff, such as shipping information, returns, etc in the 3 languages and link them within the program. I am coming to the conclusion that I can work with osMax but will have to work to make the layout smooth. Guess I will go ahead and estimate this one with stipulations that I will have to work with the limitations of the software (which one would have to do no matter what program they are using) As I have said I have worked with much earlier versions of osCommerce and am hoping this will be similar, or perhaps even easier (?). And yes - I need to SEO at least on a basic level (didn't promise them first listings on Google!) so any advise will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
you will need to SEO for all 3 languages plus Pinyin. Turn on SEO urls in admin and OSCMax will do this bit for you.

I assume your client is selling in Asia so you will need to set up social marketing in these places to begin with:

Twitter, Linked In, Facebook, Digg etc for English language speakers as well as Chinese.
QQ (Tencent QZone), Tencent Weibo, Sina Weibo, RenRen, Kaixin001, Tencent Pengyou, 51.com, Tianji, and Jiepang. These are the Asian market leaders with memberships running into 100's of millions. There is some English content on these but someone with a very good knowledge of Chinese would need to manage this part of it for your client.

Re-site design, red and gold are massive in China, both symbolising wealth, so if you can incorporate this into your design it would not go amiss.

Submit your url to all the usual places but you will also have to submit to Baidu, China's version of Google. This is a useful article on how to go about using Baidu.

Best wishes, would love to hear how you get on.

Again - thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. I will definitely pass on the info about the social media to the client.

I am researching hacking and security - this client has a history with hacking, and it strongly seems it is someone inside. Once I feel confident in understanding as much about that as I can I will complete my proposal.
