Is this oscmax?

Hi there

I'd like to know please how to tell if a site is oscommerce, oscmax or another derivative. I have ftp access.

In one of the modules I found a reference to oscmax, but wasn't sure whether that qualifies the whole installation or what.

It could be a portion that is ocsmax, I am still fairly new at computer language programming but from what I can tel,l you are able to call certain source code where you need it in certain areas of the program being developed. Then again I am not entirely sure to be honest.

osCmax is open source and licensed under the GPL, so anybody can use any portion of osCmax code to whatever end they need.

If you want to check if it is osCmax "proper" check the includes/application_top.php and look for the PROJECT_VERSION constant. If it is osCmax it will say osCmax vx.x.x there.

Of course that doesn't mean much if the code has been heavily modified and on very old versions of osCmax (pre 2.0) it will not have osCmax in the version because it was called osCommerce MS2-MAX... sheesh this gets complicated!

The thing about open source is that the original developer may have used osCmax as a base and then changed it so much as to make it effectively a one-off custom shopping cart.
