    Default osCommerce Add-ons

Stop linking osCommerce add-ons on this site that are only meant for use with the free osCommerce, not for use with paid osCmax.
for example: Twitter Typeahead Autocomplete Search

I will not be supporting anyone who doesn't use the free osCommerce since you will have to provide proof that you are using free osCommerce.

My mistake, yes osCmax is free, but the osCommerce add-ons were created for osCommerce and users of osCommerce, not osCmax, so don't put links here to osCommerce add-ons (including the link to the osCommerce support thread for the add-on) and then expect to get support for people who use osCmax.

The sub-forum where they are linked and posted is called New osCommerce Contributions. The specific purpose of that entire subforum is to link and discuss all new osCommerce mods.

We can link to the mods because the osCommerce Project site makes the RSS feed for the entire mod site available for public use. This is excellent and we are very happy that the developers have done this as it makes the community stronger and life easier for developers and users. Many users of osCmax also use osCommerce, code mods and changes for both, and modify new osCommerce mods to work with osCmax all the time.

That is the great thing about open source projects under the GPL, anyone is free to use or link or modify the code however they see fit and republish with attribution as long as they abide by the license. Any code publisher under the GPL (including you) is free to support or not support that code in any way they please. If you choose to discriminate between osCommerce and osCmax users, that is your decision. We at osCmax don't expect you to support anything we do here, and similarly, we are not concerned with what you think we should or should not link to.

Further to what Michael said I would also point out that the osCmax team are doing all of the hard work that osCommerce doesn't do for you ... assessing and evaluating all of the modules and then integrating all of the best modules together into a working and useful solution.

If you don't like it - don't use it. If you don't want people using your code (assuming you wrote this module) - don't post it under GPL.

    All the best!

Ps. If you care to look you will find osCmax members posting code fixes back to osCommerce when we find issues with the original code.

Out of curiosity, what contribution is osCmax using for Quick Find? It appears to be similar to what the O.P. has provided to osCommerce.

I can't seem to find a master list of the features/contributions used in the current version (2.5.4) unlike Michael's posting in 2003 which laid out the contributions and their sources for osCmax 1.8

In osCdox one finds help on adding features/contributions to osCmax, but again, no comprehensive iist of the contributions used therein, other than the listing (which is close) in the 2.0 Introduction. No links...

The closest thing to what I would like to see is the home page of the documents, but again, that is a listing of the features, not their sources. I did just add a link to the new BitBucket Repository on that page. Someone can clean that up a bit as it appears Michael is dropping GitHub(?), and I don't want to be too presumptive!

    Thanks,

    John :-#)#
