FedEx module update ?

Hi,
I have osCMax v2.0.3 RC4 (with the security fixes applied) and it serves my purposes perfectly except for international FedEx shipping. Pretty much all international customers either get a timeout or error message from FedEx, and much the same from USPS. Right now I have FedEx methods 2.0.4. I tried to install the fedex_direct_2.07 shipping module from osCommerce, but it apparently needs a few things changed to be compatible with osCMax. Does anyone know if there is an updated FedEx shipping module that will work with osCMax? Or, can anyone suggest anything different that will get me FexEx rates for international customers?
Do I need to update osCMax to a newer version? I had a big problem with PHP register_globals, that's why I'm using the RC4 version. Do the later versions of osCMax still require register_globals to be turned on?

OK, are there any things I need to know? Will the entire store just work as is, or do I have to do something special to restore the configuration? And, mainly, will this do anything for the FedEx international shipping problem?

Wouldn't be much point in an upgrade if it did. Templates and image handling are where you'll find the most changes. This is why no-one should upgrade a live site directly and instead create a test environment (not just 'Max specific!).

I don't us FedEx, so that is why I didn't address that particular question. By trawling through the bugtracker, you may find if particular items have been addressed.
