Default Add flat rate service fee

building a site for a calendar printing company. They need a set-up fee added to each product. This is a flat rate irregardless of the quantity, so if someone orders from 100 to 1000, the set-up fee remains at $18.50. adding it as an attribute adds $18.50 to each of the calendars, rather than adding $18.50 to the order. I could add it as an additional product but cannot be sure the client will add the set-up fee in addition to the order of the calendars. How can I add the set-up fee correctly? Can I make the cart automatically add the set-up product when the calendar order is added? Can an attribute be set up as a one-time charge for the order, rather than a charge for each item in the order?

    Thanks,

    Dan

Try Tare weight, in admin settings - applies to all posted products.

thank you for your response. If you are referring to Shipping / Packaging > Package Tare weight this adds a percent cost to shipping, doesn't it? We do not want that. The set-up cost will vary depending on the product. Is there something I can add to Product Edit, such as an attribute that is a flat rate cost, not dependent on amount of items ordered, rather than a cost per item?

Another angle: If I make a set-up fee product and make a cross-sell for the set-up fee, can I make it required? In other words if someone orders 100 calendars, can I make an $18.50 set-up fee product a required purchase and have it automatically added to the cart when someone orders the calendars?

Not a standard feature, AFAIK. How about looking at the order total modules?
