Default country not working

I entered the default country of Ireland, then selected UK Language rather than US Language or Australian Language and the default country ends up being the UK. If I change the language to US Language I get the default country as the US. How can I make it default to Ireland? I am using v2.5.1

Actually what I did was hard-code the default country ID into the create_account page and it solved the problem.

I thought I had this problem solved by hard-coding the country code into the create_account page but it created more problems. The states show up as UK states since I am using the UK english version. If I change the english version to US, the US states show up. If I change the country the states drop-down disappears. I removed the hard-coded country code and still have the same problem. If the default country is US or UK there is no problem since the correct states will show up but if the default country is Ireland there is a big problem. It seems I need an english version for Ireland, how do I do that? I cannot find anything in the database that pertains to this. Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone else have an idea how to correct this?

Have you looked in catalog/includes/languages/english/locale/locale.php ?

That was it. I changed the DEFAULT COUNTRY to 103 for Ireland and now Ireland and it's counties show up as default.
