Default Are these competitive rates for Authorize.net?

We have been shopping around for a Authorize.net reseller. We have spoken with one a lot. It appears their fees are as follows:

1. $30 gateway fee/month and $10 statement fee/month for a total of $40. They said after that there's a yearly fee but it's waived the first year.

2. It appears for MasterCard, Discover, and Visa it's 2.29% per transaction and a 25 cent per transaction fee. I was told after the first 250 transactions there's also an additional 5 cent fee but that the 5 cent transaction fee is waived for the first 250 transactions.

3. I was told once we go over $10K/month we could go as low as 2.1%. We were told though that for rewards cards they can go as high as 2.59% or even 3.49% and that there's a different rate structure for American Express. I think it was $5.99 a month flat fee.

4. Chargebacks are $25 each and down to $15 if we do high volume.

I know it's probably hard to suggest a reseller on here but I'd like to ask if these are competive rates? We are happy with this reseller but want to make sure the prices are fair.

Thanks for help with these questions.

looks alittle high to me. It has been awhile since I have used authorize.net however the fees at that time were much lower. I was in a low risk business at the time so I never had to worry about chargebacks.

Competitive compared to what? It is all based on your credit/risk rating. The only way to get rates for comparison is for you to go to other gateway providers and get quotes.

Those rates may seem high to Tom, but low to someone else. It all depends on you as the merchant, what your credit history, score, business is. Time to comparison shop with other gateway providers.

New to this forum, but the authnet rates quoted above seem very high. it seems authorizenet has about a million resellers all selling the exact same thing. I used an independent reseller named Matt Tasker Merchant Services (207-772-8737) to set up my FFL dealer site and there was no set up fee ( he said those are bs fees) and I think I pay $5 per month. His e-mail is taskercc@gmail.com please tell him Terry the gun dealer referred you. -TB

before you say "NOT PAYPAL!" understand that paypal purchased verisign and that the service I am talking about is the old verisign service not paypal (although they are now paypal...).

Contact Paypal/Verisign. They have a product that is a bundled gateway/merchant that I have a number of clients using. The service is very nice and has very competitive rates (I believe much better than what you quoted above).

Adding Paypal/Verisign is not hard and the module works well.

Just an update, due to the economic conditions, authNet has really "dropped their shorts" to get business. I wasn't aware of the paypal/versign ties... mind posting their rates please?

I'll find my latest authnet pdf (I have somewhere on on of my boxes) and get it up here.

Just got my merchant statement back from my bookkeeper.
My authorizenet is $5 per month 0.00 per item
My Visa Mastercard is $6.00 per month
My % is 2.19 plus 19 cents
Mention my name is you call him, he offers referral $
His name is Matt Tasker his number is 207-772-8737 taskercc@gmail.com and he has a $0.00 early term fee. As far as I have found he is the best low cost authorizenet dealer/ reseller.
Has anyone else on this board seen a better deal?
Terry B
