In the corresponding template you are using (let's say fallback template) look in templates/fallback/stylesheet.css Open that file and insert a line: something like:

Find:
BODY { background: #ffffff; color: #000000; margin: 0px; }

Replace with:

BODY { background:url(images/bg.gif); margin: 0px; border:solid 1px #000; margin:0 auto;
}

Try that, I'm using a background image but requires to create a border so it doesn't bleed into the middle content area. Also replace the images/bg.gif to whatever your image filename is called and where you will have it located.

Thank You! That worked!

If you have time could you tell me how you did it with margins also.

Don't listen to him! Do NOT modify fallback, create your own template.
Broken record time, again.

You MUST create your own template! Poor old Ridex is going to go spare if people don't understand this.

Ridex - Everytime someone asks this question we should simply point them to this same page in the wiki ... no more explaining in the forums ... send them to the wiki ... it will save our sanity!

Feel free to extend the page ... I will be adding some more store set up tips soon ...

My money says it won't, so you will keep pulling the hair out. Just look how many times ppl ask about the same old issues like getting warnings when they start their new sites.

Ain't that the truth? :) Witness the links on the install screen and in Admin.

oops should have clarified as the example to have your own template system in the description and not rely on the fallback template
